Jim Rogers Bullish on Water - China, India, America all have water problems
What is your outlook on global interest rates? In which direction are they likely to move?
The interest rates are going higher in most countries. Countries like Turkey, Indonesia and India had advantage of low interest rates. But these countries are going to suffer because the interest rates are going to be higher and there won't be any cheap money. Then China is also cooling off, there are many things happening around the world. The underlying situation is getting worse with interest rates going higher and printing of money.
Which are the sectors you have considered to place your bets in 2014?
I am bullish on agriculture, I am bullish on airlines. The Chinese government had said in late November that they are going to spend big money over the next 10-20 years in railroads and pollution control measures. Apart from China, there are many other countries that will spend in these sectors. Water is another sector where I am bullish. China, India, America all have water problems. - in ET Now

Jim Rogers : Investing in Water can Make You Extremely Rich
Jim Rogers Says Investing in Water to Make Some ‘Extremely Rich’
“If you can find ways to invest in water, you will be extremely rich because we do have a serious water problem in many parts of the world like India, China, the southwestern part of the U.S., and west of the Red Sea,” “There are some companies out there that clean and transport water,” “Find one with good management and invest in it and you’ll be rich.” - in Bloomberg

Water :The Government will confiscate WATER and put you in jail for being so outrageous as to own water
Jim Rogers: Agriculture – I am wildly bullish on agriculture. Water – I wouldn't own water. If you own water, if things get tough they are going to take it away from you. They will confiscate it and maybe put you in jail for being so outrageous as to own water.
Some countries I'm excited about. North Korea, Angola – there are countries where there are very exciting things going on. If you are a farmer you aren't going to know that Greece is going bankrupt. You are not going to care. You are too busy going to work every day to make money. If you are in water treatment it's the same thing. - in Daily Bell

Jim Rogers : one thing the countries cannot survive is that they run out of water
Jim Rogers: ...Well Justin, countries can survive civil war, epidemics, all sorts of things, but one thing the countries cannot survive is that they run out of water. China has a terrible water problem in the north as does India, which has an even worse problem. So if you can figure out a way to transport it, pump it, clean it, whatever you got to do, you will make a lot of money in water.
I would not suggest you own water, because if you own water, when things get really bad, the politicians will sneer and say, "You filthy horrible capitalist, you are making money off people's God given right to water." And if you are lucky, they will hang you in the city square. But if you can solve the water problems, they will build a monument to you in the city square and you will be extremely rich....
