This is Why Jim Rogers is Bullish on Russia
Jim Rogers, an advocate of limited government and free market economics, offers a blistering critique of current policies of the West

Russia is the most hated Market in the world except for Argentina
Robert Williams: So despite what’s happening, you remain steadfastly bullish on Russia.
Jim Rogers: Yeah. Obviously, the oil market drop is not good for Russia – no question about that – and it’s making the ruble go down. But, no, I see this as an opportunity. Unfortunately, I’m not very good at timing, so I don’t know when the opportunity will be.
Oil prices are not gonna stay down forever, I suspect. And Russia will rebound with oil or when they get their own act together. I mean, they’ll have to – if oil stays down at $60, they’ll have to get their act together and reorganize. But they’ve got enough resources. It’s a vastly, vastly rich country as far as resources are concerned. And it’s a very, very cheap market. I think it’s selling at half of book value right now. That’s not an expensive market.
It’s perhaps the most hated market in the world except for Argentina, I guess. And – well, not even that. Argentina’s not as hated, ’cause people are trying to raise money to invest in Argentina. So I guess Russia must be the most hated market in the world, which normally is an opportunity, Bob – normally. I mean, I emphasize normally. Who knows where the bottom is? I don’t.

Russia not in Crisis , They still have huge Foreign Currency Reserves
Robert Williams: Is it fair to call what’s happening with the ruble a crisis at this point?
Jim Rogers: Well, I don’t quite see it as a crisis. They still have huge foreign currency reserves. This is helping their balance of trade, obviously. They still get paid for oil in dollars. And it’s certainly not – it’s not causing imports to go up in Russia with the currency collapsing. So I don’t see it as a crisis. They have many debts coming due – U.S. dollar debts, which I would suspect they can finance. But, again, I haven’t sat down and put pencil to paper to really determine whether it can be done or not.

Jim Rogers Joins PhosAgro a Russian Fertilizers Company
Rogers said: "PhosAgro is an excellent company that offers investors excellent value due to the high-quality fertilizers it produces, its vertical integration and low production costs. I have watched the company successfully develop as a global player over the last few years, with flexible sales and production models that have helped it reach new markets, while investments in its Russian production assets have enabled PhosAgro to expand and improve its product portfolio.
"While Russian stocks have been under pressure through most of 2014, I think that PhosAgro's share performance, which is among the best for Russian companies in 2014, shows that investors understand the Company has world-class assets and holds significant potential for sustainable growth.
"I am excited to be joining PhosAgro's Board today, and look forward to working with the rest of the Directors and management to build value for shareholders." - See more at: http://www.stockmarketwire.com/article/4886552/Jim-Rogers-joins-PhosAgro-board.html#sthash.xWgLQTyj.dpuf

Russia The Only BRICS Nation with a freely Convertible Currency
“India and Brazil have big (national) debts. Russia is not a big debtor and has big international reserves,” Rogers said when speaking on a recent RT interview. “Russia has a freely convertible currency and none of the others have a freely convertible currency.”
“If I were Russia I would be more interested in selling to Asia than South America.”
“Brazil, China and Russia could easily put something together to compete with the US dollar,” Rogers said, leaving out one component of the BRICs alliance. “The US dollar is a terribly flawed currency. I’m an American. I hate to say that. But the US has serious problems, the world has serious problems. We need something else” and potentially a competing world currency could be developed. If this were to occur, the US and its economy might be put in a straight jacket as the ability to engage in large deficit spending could be curtailed.

Jim Rogers to Invest in Russia despite Turmoil
“I know your parents taught you to buy low and sell high. Russia is hated. It’s probably the second-most hated after Argentina,”said the legendary investor to Maria Bartiromo on FOX Business Today. “It’s got vast natural resources. It’s got a freely convertible currency. I don’t see any reason not to step in where there’s blood in the streets.”

Both Russia & Ukraine are huge Commodity Producers
HAI: What do you think about the situation between Russia and Ukraine? Is it something that commodity investors should be paying attention to?
Jim Rogers: Absolutely, if for no other reason than the fact that both Russia and Ukraine are huge commodity producers. Ukraine especially is a large agricultural commodity producer and has been for centuries, and it’s been awfully good at it for centuries. I don’t know if this is going to disrupt production or not, but if it does, that is just that much less supply on the market.

Jim Rogers : Russia is cheap, hated and massive
Jim Rogers told Reuters Insider in an interview on Monday that he was looking to add to his Russia holdings, saying the market was "cheap, hated and massive" amid tension between the country and neighboring Ukraine.
The European Union on Monday announced further sanctions against Russia, which Rogers said would have little effect on the situation. He added that there was "very little chance" it could escalate into military action between the United States and Russia.- in Reuters

Jim Rogers: Time to Buy Russia
"Russia's stock market right now is one of the cheapest in the world, and probably one of the most hated," investment guru Jim Rogers, chairman of Rogers Holdings, said in Singapore Sunday, reports Reuters.
The ruble is down nearly nine percent on the year, and investors have pulled out about $4.4 billion from stocks and $4.1 billion from bonds between September 2013 and the middle of March, according to the latest data from EPFR Global.
"This is the time to buy Russia," said Rogers, adding that those banking on Russia should have a long-term strategy.

Jim Rogers : Russia is being forced to look East
And if we come back to
this Sukhoi Superjet deal, does it mean that Moscow is switching to the
eastern market and what are the other Asian countries that Moscow could
cooperate with in the nearest future, apart from China?
Jim Rogers : Of
course, Russia is being forced to look east and not necessarily because
they want to, but because they have to. If people are going to impose
the sanctions and if you look to the east, you’d see who is out there,
who may or may not trade with you. Not just North Korea, not just China,
some other countries –Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam certainly will,
Indonesia certainly will. So, many people that don’t have problems with
Russia these days, they will be happy to trade with Russia.

Russia -- Jim Rogers buying shares in the Moscow Stock Exchange
Q: What are some stock markets you’re interested in?
Jim Rogers : First, the plenary session in Beijing in November – the Chinese say it’s one of the three most important things in the past 35 years of Chinese history. So I’m doing what they’re doing. I’m started to look for investments in the area where they’re going to put money. If the Chinese government is going to put a lot of money into something, I should, too. They have a lot more money than I do. They’re smarter than I am.
I started buying Russia in recent months. Yesterday [March 5] and the day before, I bought more. I haven’t bought too much, but have been looking for things to buy in Russia. I bought shares in the Moscow Stock Exchange. I bought Aeroflot. I own airlines around the world. And I’m looking to buy more in Japan, if given the chance.
I like to buy things that are depressed. Agriculture is very depressed. The American stock market is hitting all-time highs. I don’t find that particularly attractive. - in IB Times

Jim Rogers : Russia is very, very Cheap
ETF.com: You’re famous for looking at and investing in places that other people aren’t talking about. Where is that right now? What part of the world are people ignoring?
Jim Rogers : I would start with Russia, given that it’s one of the most hated markets in the world. Russia is very, very cheap, and it’s a very neglected stock market with enormous natural resources. I first went to Russia in 1966 and came away negative, and I stayed negative for the next 46 years, so it’s been a long-term bear for me. But in recent months I’ve started changing my views and have started buying shares in Russia.
Another one might be Japan. I don’t know if Japan is ignored or not, but it’s down 60-70 percent from its all-time highs, so it’s still neglected to some extent. Sure, it’s doubled in the last year, but its all-time high is 24 years ago!
Prime Minister Abe is spending and printing enormous amounts of money, which in my view will ruin Japan eventually. In 20 years, we’ll look back at Japan, and its death knell will be what Mr. Abe did in 2012-2014. But in the meantime, there are staggering amounts of money and spending, and printing has to go somewhere, and I suspect a lot of it’s going to find its way into the stock market. - in ETF.com

I Am Playing it in Russia
The United States stock market is at all time highs. The Japanese stock
market is down 60 or 70 percent from its all time highs and Mr. Abe in
Japan has no constraints, he can spend as much as he wants, he can print
as much as he wants, so I am playing it more in japan than in the
United States.
I am playing it in Russia, for instance, where there is surely a very
depressed stock market. Everybody hates Russia. It is hated more than any
place except maybe Argentina.
