Rogers on India and The Gold Market

ET Now: When we talk about gold, the industry here has very strong expectations from the new government. How would you look at India easing curbs on gold imports?

Jim Rogers : I have read about those changes, but I did not think that they were terribly significant maybe because I am too simple-minded to understand them. But if India really opens up its gold markets again, that would of course be very good for the world and certainly the gold world and people interested in it.
However, I did not see that particular change as being very significant and as you know, people have been smuggling gold into India anyway. So I am not sure if it is going to do much more than just offset some of that smuggling. - in Economic Times
