Jim Rogers : no reason to Invest in South Africa

Jim Rogers : I don’t remember investing in South Africa because there was no reason to – there were better ways to invest in gold than in South Africa. Whenever I would go to South Africa they would always tell me this is crazy because other countries are in here taking advantage and making investments whether it is the Chinese or whoever, and you are sitting there watching and by the time you come it is going to be very late. Just like what is happening in Cuba or Myanmar now. It is not having any effect, except giving an open checkbook to other countries. It also means that the locals can exploit the situation even better with no competition. One guy told me this is great because anybody that has to sell cannot sell to America, cannot sell to Country X, they have to sell to him because he is the only buyer, the only investor, he comes out way ahead. - in The Motley Fool
