The Scandinavian currencies are less risky than other currencies

Jim Rogers : well Nicholas I own the euro first of all not as much as I used to but I own the Euro , I own some of the alternatives you just said , the world is full of risk right now especially with paper money, yes I own Scandinavian currencies because they are probably less risky than other currencies , to this point twenty years ago Scandinavia had the same problem , but in Scandinavia twenty years ago they sat down and said OK we've made mistakes you are gonna fail you are gonna survive we are going to start over , there was a horrible two to three years but since then Scandinavia especially Sweden had a wonderful rally for the past fifteen years or so and Sweden is now one of the most stable and sovereign countries in the world that's the only way this is going to solve the European problems -in CNBC interview 28 Nov 2011

  1. Finland after the collapse of the Soviet Union bit the bullet even worse (18 percent unemployment, etc) Are cold countries just plain more disciplined than relaxed Club Med. I propose the Neuro for the north and the Zeuro for the south. And ZUrabia, the scenario in my book, if things really fall apart. That is, all sane money goes to Zurich and the rest to Arabia. In good humour, but with real worry that the global economy overall, especially in most of the West, is increasingly fit for an asylum.

  2. Being from sweden I think Jim got it wrong about us, he does not see the extent to which government regulations are choking us, and the amount of private debt in the system is staggering. It is only through our centralbans action that the real estate bubble didnt burst when it did in the rest of the world but it will pop this time around. The horror, the horror!

  3. In Scandinavia the best currency to invest in Norweigan krones (NOK). It's going to be a hard currency soon. Why?
    1) The country is not within EU and nor using Euro.
    2) Their foreign debt is equal to zero. Yes zero!
    3) They have enourmous oil and gas fields. In addition to this they have also a major forrest and fishing industry.
    4) The income from the oil is invested in different funds and the Norwigan Oil Fund is world's biggest oil fund, bigger than Abu Dhabis fund.
    5) They have growth in the economy.
    6) They have low unemployment and strong domestic economy.
